Prime Minister Invites All Parties to Join “Misaq-e-Istehkham Pakistan” on 79th Independence Day
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Wednesday, invited all political parties in the country to become part of the “Misaq-e-Istehkham Pakistan” (Charter of Stability) during the celebrations of Independence Day and Markah-e-Haq.

A special ceremony was held at Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad, attended by top civil and military leadership. President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, First Lady Asifa Bhutto Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Inter-Services Public Relations officials, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Muhammad Sharif, and other dignitaries participated. Foreign officials were also present.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said it was time to move beyond political divisions, personal interests, and empty slogans to adopt a collective vision for Pakistan. “On this great day, I once again openly invite all political parties, stakeholders, and civil society to join the movement for stability,” he said.
He emphasized that this was not a revival of the Charter of Economy but an initiative in the greater national interest, to show the world that “differences have their place, but for the sake of our beloved Pakistan, we all stand united.”
The Prime Minister stated that after countless sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, the country would not allow any new “chaos” to take root. He added that everyone had the right to protest, criticize, and do politics — but not to engage in violence, destruction, defamation, or rebellion against the state.
He paid tribute to the founders and visionaries of the nation, whose “leadership and efforts changed history and geography,” and to the armed forces for their performance in the May conflict against India, calling it a “historic lesson” future generations would remember forever.
Shehbaz Sharif thanked Pakistan’s allies for their global support and solidarity amid tensions with India. “I am grateful to U.S. President Donald Trump and his team for playing a strong role in the ceasefire. I hope President Trump will help resolve the Kashmir issue peacefully, in accordance with UN resolutions, for regional peace,” he added.
The Prime Minister stressed that while celebrating Independence Day and Markah-e-Haq, Pakistanis must remember those who struggle for freedom — whether in the blood-soaked streets of Gaza or in occupied Kashmir, where innocent Kashmiris’ blood turns rivers red.
“Pakistan clearly declares it will stand with its oppressed brothers and sisters. What is happening to the Palestinians is a test of our humanity. Pakistan will continue to fight until our Palestinian and Kashmiri brothers get their rights,” he asserted.
Later, the Prime Minister unveiled the digital model of the Markah-e-Haq memorial.

The night ended with a spectacular fireworks display over the capital’s sky as the national anthem played, marking the countdown to midnight and August 14.
Armed forces from various branches marched in front of the audience, with military contingents from Turkiye and Azerbaijan also participating.
